We're coming to a close on 2016. It's always a bit sad this time of year when you realize that you're not really sure how time has flown by so fast. But I'm here with news to cheer you up. It's time for the holiday show season to start!
The shows that fill the last two months of the year are always some of the best. People are brimming with holiday cheer, happily looking for just the perfect gift for someone they love (or maybe a treat for themselves), familiar music plays and sparkling snow fills the air.
This year will be no different. I'll be heading back for some of my absolute favorite events. Plus, I've added some new markets that I'm just as excited to be part of.
10a - 8p
The 2016 holiday season kicks off with a new event for me, Handmade Toledo's annual Maker's Mart. I've always admired Handmade Toledo for their wonderfully curated selection of makers. The work is modern and creative. Maker's Mart is this Saturday, so mark that calendar!
6p - 10p
Rocky River, Ohio
The Winter Market is an event I've done for several years and really love. It's a small, intimate gathering on a Thursday evening. Makers are arranged among the Linda Street shops and you can wind through them with a drink in hand. How can you find a fault in that?
Fri: 5 - 10p Sat + Sun: 10a - 6p
As many of you know, I've been part of the Cleveland Flea family since its first year in 2013. But this is my first year selling at a Flea holiday event. I'm super excited! It's bound to be a show packed full of goodies, in both handmade and vintage variety, as well as food, drink and music.
10a - 8p
Cleveland Bazaar has been making the holidays crafty for 12 years now. Their Winterfest, in downtown Cle (part of the lighting ceremony festivities), is a newer edition. But as Cleveland grows, the fest has been growing too. November 26th is going to be one fun day to be downtown.
11a - 7p
It's a tough field, but Handmade Arcade is always one of my favorite shows of the year. The convention center in Pittsburgh practically overflows with enthusiasm (not hindered by the cheerleading competition that is next door every year). Plus there are so many amazing vendors with crazy skills. It's not to be missed if you're in the area.
Sat: 10a - 9p; Sun: 10a - 6p
The flagship event of their whole season, Cleveland Bazaar's Holiday Market at 78th Street Studios is always brimming with crafty makers and eager shoppers alike. The brick walls and wood floors showcasing amazing artwork and the cool vibe is what keeps bringing people back every year.
10a - 6p
I'll be back again at another of my favorite holiday markets, the Last Minute Market. With the Screw Factory still having some work done, the Galleria at Erieview will be hosting this year. All your favorite last minute shopping stops will be there to deck the place out. And if we're lucky we'll get a magically sparkly snow to cover the streets of downtown again.
11a - 6p
Cleveland Heights (Coventry), Ohio
One of Cleveland’s favorite new places to shop local, In the 216 Shop, is hosting a brand new holiday market, the Jingle Bell Shop. The fabulous Jenny Goe teamed up with the Grog Shop and the B Side Lounge to bring together a collection of Cleveland makers on the last Sunday before Christmas. You can listen to good tunes, sip on a drink and finish off the last of that Christmas shopping.
It's once again time for a new pattern release! May’s Pattern of the Month is called Sketched Circles. The hand drawn pattern is light and fresh.
