Do you like seeing behind the scene glimpses into the creative world of artists and makers? Well, here’s the thing, we love to share it with you! For most creative people, making things is life. We could talk about our process all day long to a willing listener. But sometimes finding the right way into that conversation can be a bit tricky. That’s why the March Meet the Maker series (put together by Joanne Hawker) has taken off among the maker community. And it’s why I’m joining in for my first Instagram challenge.
Every day in March, makers will be following a specific prompt to share a look into their craft, their business and their day to day world through the March Meet the Maker challenge. You can follow along with the challenge on Instagram with the hashtag #marchmeetthemaker. We’re just getting started, so to make sure you catch all my posts, follow me on Instagram. Here’s a peek at what I’ve posted so far.
"Today is Day 3: Workspace. The slanting attic walls of my workspace can be quite maddening. Still I love the light. And if I am away from the studio for too much time, I get antsy. There's nothing like a good long day in this space to calm the background noise in my head."
"Tools. I use a lot of tools. I use tools for cutting, tools for measuring, tools for printing. But if you want to break it down into percentage used (and you don't count my sewing machine, who isn't so much a tool as a teammate 😉), these are them. Squeegee for printing and rotary cutter, chalk, snips, and pins for keeping things precise. These are my world."
I hope to see you over on Instagram this month. And if you do follow along, I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
It's once again time for a new pattern release! May’s Pattern of the Month is called Sketched Circles. The hand drawn pattern is light and fresh.
