Well, it’s another new year. 2016 was turbulent, to put it lightly. Many people lost loved ones unexpectedly, the presidential election was especially divisive and toxic, and there seemed to be more than the usual share of heartache. But in the final months of 2016, words written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago kept coming back to me. I’d find myself doodling them over and over, feeling anchored. "A heart to love, and in that heart, courage to make love known." As soon as the holidays were over, I knew there was just one way I could spend my first week of 2017: translating these words that have been such an inspiration into a new design.
The new Heart to Love Shopping Tote means a lot to me, not in the least because the words have been swimming around my head for so many months. But also because I honestly believe we need more love in the world, and that to love takes courage. I hope that this design strikes as deeply for you as it does with me.
I have printed a limited number in this first run. It is currently available in two different lining colors. Both the standard black twill that most of my shopping totes are lined with, and a beautifully bright rainbow stripe cotton.
The Heart to Love Tote is the first, but definitely not the last of new designs I have planned for 2017. In fact, I'm hoping to spend a lot more time this January bringing some ideas into reality. So stayed tuned!
It's once again time for a new pattern release! May’s Pattern of the Month is called Sketched Circles. The hand drawn pattern is light and fresh.
