We’ve done it! We’ve made it into warm weather season! This winter was a long one, but we’re on the other side now. To celebrate, I’ve got two brand new shopping tote designs.
The Summer Veggies and Fall Veggies designs were one of my very first screen prints. It’s strange to think how far I’ve come since then. Though they’ve always been popular, I’ve decided it was time to retire them. But what to make in their place?
The funny thing about the two new designs I’ve come up with is that process behind them could not have been more different. The Fresh Fare of Summer design was the result of months of thinking and tinkering. I went in several different directions, rejecting ideas that didn’t hold up before the Fresh Fare design finally shook itself free. It's a representation of two things I love: fresh food and cooking. Just reading it makes my mouth water.
The Rilke Be Patient design process was basically the exact opposite. The quote from Rainer Maria Rilke is one I often go back when feeling overwhelmed or uncertain. One day it occurred to me to try it out as a tote bag design. Without any clear idea in mind, I sat down and created it in one go. It was as if it had been waiting for me. Letters to a Young Poet, the book this quote was taken from, meant so much to me the first time I read it. I love that now, so many years later, I can share some of what it meant with others.
The two designs are now online in my Shopping Tote Collection. Each is available in denim blue, lilac purple, olive green or natural canvas. I’m kinda crazy about them both, and I hope you will be too!
