New design time: yay! I love telling you about my new designs; it’s exciting to share a brand new thing that has come into being after having worked piece by piece to get it just right. Today I want to tell you all about my new tote, the American Made Tote printed with the Shop Local in the 216 design. The idea behind this design has been percolating for a while now, and if you follow me on Instagram you may have caught some peeks of it.
This tote is special. From the cotton fields to the textile mills, this tote is made with 100% American materials. Even the cotton webbing straps are made in the U.S. As I designed this tote, I looked closely at many fabrics before finding just what I was looking for. I ordered samples. I did tests: washing tests, sewing tests, and printing tests. The final fabrics are beauties. The outside is made with an incredibly soft, organic cotton and the tote is lined with colorful cottons that have a subtle sheen.
I plan to do many more prints of the American Made Tote. (So many ideas, so little time.) But this first print, Shop Local in the 216, felt like the perfect start. If you signed up for this newsletter, chances are you feel strongly about supporting local businesses. And here in Cleveland, we have so many great ones.
The Shop Local In The 216 tote is now available in my online shop. It currently comes in two lining colors: a bold turquoise and a summery green. But tomorrow, for the first time, I’ll be showing off the American Made Tote at the Cleveland Flea. I hope you’ll stop by (booth 115), say hi, and let me know what you think of the new bag.
It's once again time for a new pattern release! May’s Pattern of the Month is called Sketched Circles. The hand drawn pattern is light and fresh.
