Getting Creative: 10th Annual IngenuityFest Opens Friday

Cleveland Makes, Creates, and Shares

If you’re from Cleveland, you more than likely have heard of the IngenuityFest. You probably have heard about how it’s kind of about art and technology, and a sort of celebration of where the two meet. But that description is really only a piece of the puzzle. The IngenuityFest is a place of collaboration, a place of passion. It’s where curious, creative people go to learn and share ideas. A yearly ritual for many in this city, the IngenuityFest is where the beautiful and amazing work people do year round gets showcased.

This weekend marks the IngenuityFest's 10th year. And once again it is being held along our beautiful lakefront. (At the docks just north of the stadium, and in/around the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.) Opening this Friday, the festival runs into Sunday evening, giving you plenty of time to see some inspiring work. Here are just a few of the events going on this weekend:

  • Performances by Voix de Ville (“Voice of the City”): a mini mobile circus tent featuring a neo-vaudeville cast
  • Iron Composer: 5 composers are invited to compete in this Iron Chef for composers
  • The Tesla Orchestra: “musical lightning bolts,” or two giant Tesla coils, light up the lakefront
  • Solar Bytes Pavilion: demonstrations of 3D printing at the scale of architecture
  • NASA Centaur Art Challenge: gallery of art that celebrates one of NASA’s essential rockets for space exploration
  • Illumination: 38 fourth graders in an interactive sculpture on the topic of electrical currents
  • 3rd Annual Make Space: workshops, DIY projects, presentations and crafts for all ages and in plenty of topics
  • Vendor Village: makers and creators from across the city showing off and selling their wares
  • Music: so much music, 4 different stages of music all weekend long
