I know I’ve sighed and said that August has ended so soon, that September has already arrived and summer is coming to a close. But still - fall! I don’t think you can live in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or anywhere in the North and East without having a bit of a soft spot in your heart for the autumn months. The colors, the coats, the boots, the apples and the pumpkins: it all makes me smile happily. And as the outdoor show season starts to wrap up, I’ve planned a busy September to make the most of it.
If you haven't been before, don't worry about not knowing exactly where to go: just follow the crowds and you'll end up in the right place.
The first of my September shows is my final Cleveland Flea of 2014. Nearing the end of its second year, the Cleveland Flea has grown with each and every show. Last month was my first at its new location in Asia Town (Tyler Village at E. 36th St. and Superior Ave.). I was blown away: it seemed to have doubled in size since the June show. If you haven’t been to the Cleveland Flea yet, it’s time. You’ll love it, I promise. There is always so much to see and do and taste: the Flea is a fantastic gathering of Cleveland’s talented creatives, in all forms.
I was playing with the trunk set up in my studio the other day: here's a peek at a few of the goodies that will be on sale Saturday.
Since this is my last Cleveland Flea of the year, I wanted to make sure it was a special one. I’ve been eyeing my dad’s old Air Force trunk for a while now, and I’ve decided it would be a lot of fun to have my own version of a trunk sale. I’m sad to say that I’ve let some beautiful inventory sit tucked away for a little too long. These are bags that were made with the same care and craftsmanship that I put into all my work, but they’ve been getting lonely. Most of the bags were never photographed, so they have never been available online. And now I’m going to be selling them for 40% off! And, bonus, almost all of them are in perfect fall colors: rich oranges and reds, coppery browns, dusky blues. This Flea, get yourself a new, handcrafted bag for fall, and give one of my tucked-away treasures a good home.
This week I’m going to be sewing some new products that will debut at September’s Flea. I’ve been printing fun geometric designs on microsuede and will be working on a new batch of wristlets (and possibly wallets) featuring the new fabrics. Below is a peek at the fabrics, but if you'd like to keep an eye their progess you can follow me on Instagram.
Have a happy week!
I finished printing the microsuede Sunday morning. I use special fabric ink, so even after the ink has dried the microsuede still has an incredibly soft hand.
