Summertime Fun: Upcoming Shows

by Liz Sabo June 27, 2014

Well, we're almost into July. But really I feel more in line with the summer solstice - it seems like summer has just started. However you feel, we've still got months of summer left and I've got lots of shows coming up. Throughout the summer I will likely be adding more shows to the schedule (I'm planning on doing a couple more Cleveland Fleas, but those aren't decided until a week or two before the market). And when new events pop up, I'll be sure to add them here. In the meantime, below is the current show list. I hope this helps give you some ideas for summertime fun, and make sure you stop and say hi at any of the shows you go to!

I can't believe Vine Eats is tomorrow already! If you live in a western suburb, this show will be a great opportunity to taste all sorts of goodies from the Cleveland food scene. This food-centered fest in Avon Lake will have food trucks and food vendors selling treats to eat on site or to take home. And you'll have the scenic background of John Christ Winery for this Saturday afternoon market. Whether you're shopping for yourself or a friend, this will be a perfect opportunity to pick up a Word Tote and stock up on artisan foods.

The SouthSide Works Exposed is a show put on by I Made It! Markets in Pittsburgh. I had the opportunity last Saturday to do a small market with the group. Carrie, the show runner, really knows how to put together a great group of people. Talented regional artists (many from Cleveland) will be selling beautiful, highly crafted work. The three-day fest will feature live music, plenty of edible treats, and 65 handmade vendors. It's also a family-friendly affair with a water spray park running all weekend, and kids' activities on Sunday.

Last year the Cleveland Bazaar took over the monthly summer market in Market Square Park across from the West Side Market. Shannon from CLE Bazaar has upped the ante for vendors and created a fun little market that is the perfect complement to spending a Saturday at the West Side Market. I took part in Open Air in May, and despite it raining almost the whole day, the intimate layout of the show made for an ideal environment to meet new people, vendors and shoppers alike. I will also have a surprise in my booth this July...but more on that later!

I'm very excited to be taking part in this last show. The Flair Fest is a celebration in support of the 2014 Gay Games that Cleveland is hosting. The Gay Games are an international event with over 30 countries represented. And the Flair Fest is sure to be an unforgettable part of the festivities. The all-day festival will feature 60 artisans, food trucks and plenty of live, street fair entertainment. In the evening, a concert headlined by the Indigo Girls will take place at Akron's Lock 3 venue. As the day gets closer, a lot more info about this event will be released, and I can't wait to share it with you.

Change can be daunting. Change is sometimes something we fight, or something we have no choice but to embrace. Or it can be something we search after, something we seek out of necessity. For me, 2018 was about seeking necessary change. Now, in 2019, I’ll need to embrace it.
