I am super excited to announce the release of my newest design, the Screen Printed Messenger Bag. I've put a lot of heart into its making and am incredibly proud of the outcome. So thanks for giving me a moment while I gush all about it.
There is a lot about this new design that has me grinning. For one, this is the first of my full-sized bags to feature screen printing, and I have to say, I’m thrilled with the results. While there were definitely some hurdles to getting the printing done (most of which involved upgrading the size of my printing materials), the result is a stylish, plaid finish for a straightforward and functional bag.
With this messenger bag, I have also started working with a new fabric. This bag is made with a high-quality, army duck canvas. It’s a beautiful fabric. Its dense weave gives the fabric far greater strength and durability that your average canvas. At the same time, it is soft and smooth to the touch. And best of all, the army duck has been treated with a water repellent finish. The finish is wax based and has saturated the fabric’s fibers during production, which allows for long-lasting protection from rain and spills.
There are also several new style elements I’ve included in this design. A seatbelt webbing strap sets this bag apart from my other full-sized bag, giving it a distinct edge. This bag also features a zippered back pocket. I have chosen a heavy, metal zipper that will stand up to wear and also complements the metal hardware used throughout this design. As with my previous messenger bag, this new style has two front pockets, several small interior pockets, and an interior divider. It is also secured with front flap magnetic snaps.
I have purposely designed my new messenger bag to appeal to both men and women. It’s a classic silhouette, with clean lines and bold style. Whether you want something for yourself, or a gift for someone else, this messenger bag has been handcrafted with care to look great and function beautifully.
It's once again time for a new pattern release! May’s Pattern of the Month is called Sketched Circles. The hand drawn pattern is light and fresh.
